Incident Triggers Tension in Meerut Village

Tension gripped Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh after a Dalit woman was brutally murdered and her young daughter was kidnapped, allegedly by a local man. The shocking incident occurred on Thursday in Kapsad village, prompting heavy police deployment and political reactions across the state.

According to officials, the victims were walking towards their agricultural fields when the accused stopped them near a canal and allegedly behaved inappropriately. When the mother objected, she was attacked with a sharp agricultural weapon, leaving her critically injured. The accused then forcibly abducted the 20-year-old daughter and fled the scene.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries; Protests Follow

Villagers rushed to the spot after hearing the woman’s cries and immediately took her to a nearby hospital. Despite medical treatment, she died due to severe injuries.

Following her death, strong protests erupted in the area. Activists and members of the Bhim Army demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and swift action from the administration. After several hours of discussions with district officials and local leaders, the woman’s family carried out her last rites on Friday.

Family Demands Justice and Daughter’s Safe Return

The grieving family demanded strict legal action, removal of alleged illegal constructions linked to the accused, and the safe recovery of the missing daughter. Authorities assured the family that all demands were being taken seriously.

The District Magistrate confirmed that the family has received financial assistance of ₹10 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Office. Officials are also considering issuing an arms license to the family due to security concerns.

Political Reactions Intensify

The incident drew sharp reactions from political leaders. BSP chief Mayawati described the case as “tragic and deeply disturbing”, urging the government to take firm steps to protect women and curb such crimes.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party workers staged protests, with party leader Akhilesh Yadav alleging that the state government was failing to control crime and protect vulnerable communities.

Police Form Special Teams to Track Accused

Police have launched an intensive operation, forming 10 special teams under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural). Authorities stated that efforts are focused on arresting the accused at the earliest and ensuring the safe rescue of the kidnapped woman.

Officials remain on high alert in the village, with additional security forces deployed to prevent further unrest.
