Google, in collaboration with its local partner Tech Valley, is launching an initiative to establish 50 smart schools in Islamabad, Pakistan. These schools will be equipped with advanced educational technology, including 30,000 Google for Education IDs featuring AI-powered features for improved learning experiences.

The project also includes various initiatives such as teacher workshops on Google tools, the establishment of a public Google Reference School, and the training of 2,000 youths in job-ready skills through Google Career Certificates. Additionally, there are plans for potential collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education to host an Edutech event.

Google aims to empower women by providing them with skills and resources. For instance, the Google Career Certificates program, launched in Pakistan in 2022, allocated at least 50% of its scholarships to women. This initiative aims to increase women’s access to economic opportunities and has awarded 44,500 scholarships in 2023, with 45,000 new scholarships committed for 2024.

Furthermore, through the Google News Initiative (GNI), young journalists, especially women, are being trained to address the accessibility of newsrooms and gain reporting experience. These efforts aim to drive stronger equality and empower women in the workforce.
